RIDGEFIELD PARK, N.J. - Ridgefield Park is hosting the town's first-ever "Relay For Life" event benefiting the American Cancer Society. The event promises to be filled with food, music, local vendors, crafts, and fun for all ages.
The ACS's Relay For Life is chance for communities to celebrate the lives of people who have battled cancer, remember loved ones lost, and fight back against the disease. At Relay, teams of people camp out at a local high school, park, or fairground and take turns walking or running around a track or path. Each team is asked to have a representative on the track at all times during the event. Because cancer never sleeps, Relays are overnight events up to 24 hours in length.
The village, known for its annual Fourth of July extravaganza, is hoping to raise $60,000 through team fundraising and corporate sponsors.
The Relay will take place at Veteran's Park, 147 Overpeck Avenue in Ridgefield Park on Friday, June 11 from 5:00 p.m. to Saturday, June 12 at 7:00 a.m.
